Whereas, per section XII.8 of the Constitution, the SGA President shall have the authority to pass
actions on behalf of the Student Government Association, with vote of the Student Senate.
Whereas, many bills and resolutions have been passed since the 77th administration that establish processes and procedures;
Whereas, the SGA Bylaws include the processes and procedures established in each branch, per Section XII.3 of the Constitution;
Whereas, the Constitution is supposed to be interpreted in conjunction with the Bylaws by the Student Supreme Court, per Section XII.1 of the Constitution;
Whereas, no Bylaws have been created to encompass these processes and procedures that have been passed;
Whereas, the creation of a seamless and centralized code will allow the Supreme Court to rule on decisions and better hold officers accountable. It will also allow the Senate to easily identify what needs to be added and removed from the Bylaws through legislation.
Therefore, be it enacted by the Student Government Association of Xavier University of Louisiana:
The forwarded document shall become the new Xavier University of Louisiana Student Government Association Bylaws, effective immediately.
Be it further enacted, It will be the responsibility of the Judicial Clerk to update the SGA Bylaws within five (5) calendar days after legislation is passed through the Senate or an Executive Order is
given from the President.
